Dear readers, my mother Dr. Veerbala who was my inspiration and a great help in the editorial work for Geeta-Kavita, is no more. She was 79 years old but remained alert and intellectually active till her end came on Monday the 9th August 2010. The only sister of the famous Hindi poet and writer Dr. Dharamvir bharati, Dr. Veerbala was a well known poetess and writer in her own right. Several of her poems are already available on this website. An article of her’s, remembering her brother Dr. Dharamvir Bharati is also available here. In 1960s and 70s her poems use to appear in all prominent Hindi magazines. Her solitary novel “Maut Ka Phool” was published by S Chand and Co. and was greatly appreciated. She completed her PhD in Sanskrit in 1970 and joined Delhi University as a Sanskrit teacher. She retired from the university in 1996. She is survived by three sons, Gopal Krishna Saxena, myself and Yogesh Krishna Saxena. Dr. Shatendra Kumar, her husband and our father died about 20 years ago. As a tribute to her, I am presenting a well known poem written by her about 50 years ago. Rajiv Krishna Saxena
