Bible says that he who increases knowledge, increases sorrow. Faith in God is a great savior of humans and gives then courage to go through life. Post-modern man with his education and rational mind has lost this faith. Bereft of this faith, he is unable to find meaning in his life and living. This great dilemma that used to be characteristic of people in developed world, is slowly creeping into Indian mind that used to be a strong citadel of tradition and religious belief. क्योंकि अब हमें पता है

कितने भाग्यशाली हैं वे लोग
जो आंखें मूंद कर
हाथ जोड़ कर
सुनते हैं कथा
कह देते हैं अपनी सब व्यथा
मांग लेते हैं वरदान
पालनहारे से।
और हम
पढ़ कर
चिंतन मनन कर
हुए पंडित
नहीं कर पाते यह सब
क्योंकि अब हमें पता है
नहीं है कोई पालनहारा।

अनायास ही उपजे हैं हम
बिना किसी ध्येय के
इस धरती पर
और क्योंकि अब
हम समझते हैं सब
पाते नहीं हैं कोई प्रयोजन
जीवन जीने का
पुरुषार्थ करने का
पर कहें किससे
कि हमे उठा ले
क्योंकि अब तो हमें पता है
कोई नहीं है पालनहारा
हमारा रखवाला
और बिना प्रयोजन
बेमतलब सा है
यह जीवन हमारा।
